  • Chicago OKs Gun Tax (link)

Take about a lack of intelligence.

Read this article and thought two things

    1. All the criminals will not be affected because they dont pay tax anyway
    2. All the small businesses in Chicago who sell firearms and accessories will be hurt because the incentive will be to purchase elsewhere

As you read further down into the article you will see they were thinking about a 5 cent per bullet fee until they realized it would exceed the cost in some cases. Unbelievable! Makes you realize that we need to watch all levels of government and not just federal.

    Here is the link

Normal in the Windy City. Common sense seems not to prevail in our nation's largest metro areas. Take the NYC no more than 16 ounces in a drink thing. Sometimes things like this just don't make sense, but get passed anyway.

Only way to change it is to vote them out. Unfortunately, Chicago, as well as other metro areas, have a disproportionate amount of folks on the government dole. And voting out those that support said programs will end those types of programs. So guess what? Nobody gets voted out and/or voter fraud comes into play that keeps legitimate winners out of office.

I especially liked the part about the gunshot victims were 70% uninsured. Figuring that number won't change much when Obamacare goes into effect. And another tax increase will go into effect, probably on the ammo sold.

I wonder at what point does the taxation of something limit our rights. If say, I was charged a fee every time I wanted to assemble would I then assemble less? and in affect by hindered in exercising my rights? If "arms" are taxed to the point that citizens can no longer afford them, then what? Of course the other million dollar questions is how much tax is too much and who determines when the line is crossed. I don't have an answer, just a question unfortunately.

        Bslick2u,

You are exactly right, they are taxing it out of reach... Just like the "tax stamp" for full auto and silenced weapons, it was a way limit your access without actually outlawing it, the cost of the stamp ($200 in 1934), if you think about when it went into affect it was so high that almost no one even bothered to get it. And after a few years, the population started to BELIEVE they should not be allowed to own one.
