  • AK DEAL???

    I found a guy selling an M10-762 SEMI-AUTOMATIC AK-TYPE RIFLE, 7.62X39 for $500

I don't know anything about AK's. Is this a good deal? Would this be a good first AK?

All of the other AK's I find are priced at least a hundred dollars more than this one

$500 is a good deal this day with increased prices. One thing to be careful of is if it has the standard stock or the wire stock. If you've never fired an AK with the wire folding stock it can be a bit...jarring. Personal preference on this one, but most folks tend to find the standard stock easier to use and doesn't beat up your shoulder like others.

Some folks seem to have issues with the muzzle brake (or lack thereof) and end up swapping it out for a true brake. And it comes with a rail system already so there's money saved.

    <insert snippy AR comment here>

But overall the reviews seem to be positive even given it's a Romanian receiver.

      Who's the manufacturer?

WHERE POSSIBLE, I'd try to avoid anything touched by Century.... 3 I've had to let go that were "defiled" by them.

THAT BEING SAID, I got a too good to pass up deal on an underfolder a while back made by them and with just a few rounds through it (maybe 200) it's been fine. Spock told me some of the newer ones feature American made barrels, that might be the ticket.

        It's a fixed stock.
        This was the post:

"M10 AK 47, romanian imported and rebuilt by m&m guns. Atf 922r compliant. Unfired brand new. Comes with one 30 round promag, and a users manual."

So m&m is the manufacturer I suppose.
Seems like a good deal. & the gun seems to have positive reviews.

The Promag likely won't hold up, so if you are negotiating with them don't let them use that as a selling point.

Now a days $500. for an AK probably isn't bad.

new barrels but not necessarily us barrels.

the M10 is basically a converted wasr with a draco gas block instead of the usual 45 degree gas block. AIM surplus's current price on these is $569. the whole sale on the M10 when they 1st hit last year was $500. h and the gas block is also chrome lined. most ak's gas block is not. for $500 its not a bad deal its not a smoking one though.

keep in mind centuries monkeys haven't touched the m10. unlike the wasr.

What are some of the issues with the WASR?

I have one that I have owned for prolly 5-7 years. I have not used it much, it's kinda of a just in case type of rifle. I have it stored away with a few essentials in case it is needed. I have probably 500-800 rounds through it and havent had any problems. If there is something I should be aware of I would like the input now so I can make appropriate changes.

Nothing in particular so to speak. WASRs are the Olympic Arms of the AK world in terms you can be familiar with. There were some issues with accuracy, canted front sights and being picky about magazines, but it was hit and miss. Generally if you get one that runs okay, you get the AK reliability and never have any issues.

These boys around here are not unlike Colt AR purists. Gotta get an Arsenal or Polytech and it'll run like a scalded dog. Anything less is uncivilized unless of course you get a Krebs Custom which is the equivalent of getting a Larue or Noveske.

If your WASR runs okay and doesn't have a canted front sight, you should be good to go.

And SOME Wasr's are o.k. but MANY suffer from some of the problems Grand pointed out.

I've owned three, all but one were junk.
