Thanks Foxfire. When I got my first gun a year and a half ago, I had no idea how to clean it. Thankfully, a gun store owner showed me (briefly) how to do it. I do have a question, do those rope type cleaners work? You know, the type to put one end of the 'rope' into the chamber the pull it through. It makes cleaning so much easier, but I wonder if it's as good as the old fashion way.

monkeybird, I use those for range cleaning (read mild cleaning) after I have a "FUN" day at the range, I will take a lunch break, pull out my bore snake, lightly clean out the carbon, lead/copper, go get some lunch, and come back for some more afternoon fun. But when I get home I pull out the carbon fiber rod to give my guns a nice thorough cleanng before putting the gun sock on them and locking them in the safe... :)
