I'm done with this debate as you have yet to offer any argument as to why the 1911 was the best choice and/or speak to any of the issues brought up in this thread. And if you say "they are replacing a 1911 with another 1911" then explain why, again, the current issue ones are 70,000 rounds strong during training and deployment before having to be rebuilt, but the test articles that are supposed to replace them can't meet a minimum round count before breaking.

Cocky/arrogant? No. Concerned as to why the USMC would be spending my tax dollars in a thinly veiled attempt at someone's favorite by rigging a competition and still selecting a pistol that didn't even make it through the trials? Yes. Perplexed as to why the USMC would limit small arms developers by making such a narrow set of requirements and hampering any new development of firearms, but never arrogant. Curious as to why you have ignored the arguments and continue needless banter without offering a viable defense of the chosen pistol. But never arrogant.

Come up with counters to the issues brought forward in this thread and not just the whole "1911s rule and are the standard all are judged by" argument. Again, what sets the 1911 apart from any other manufacturer out there and why should that field have been limited when there are so many other good choices out there.
