whats your opinion on cold steel bushman 7" blade?
I found some on a website for 18 dollars each, thinking it would make a good utility knife for camp chores. Ive watched a few reveiws on u tube , and these knives can take a beating it seems., spliiting wood with a baton, fire starting hacking , chopping, and for 18 bucks! ::D

cold steel makes some good blades for the $$ their GI tanto beat out many other high end knives on tourture testing.

yeah that GI tanto is a heck of a knife. I have a friend who has that Bushman i think he got it for Christmas, anyways he has been using the knife in his shop and has done some wood spliting with it and it seems to be holding up. Myself I have been looking to get a new pack knife to put on the shoulder strap on my day pack and boy it has been a pain tring to find the right one. I made it hard on myself because starting the new year i said that I am going to do my best to buy USA made products so that knocks down the options down quickly.

Have you considered making your own from a knife kit? I am looking into doing that...

I HAVE MADE MY OWN KNIVES FOR SOME TIME NOW. I MAKE THEM FROM OLD SAW BLADES FROM A CONCRETE CUTTER.
FULL TANG,GOOD WEIGHT, EVERYTHING I WANT IN MY KNIVES. PLUS ITS A LOT OF FUN TO MAKE . I USE ONLY A 41/2" GRINDER WITH A CUT OFF WHEEL FOR METAL . THE HANDLES ARE MADE WITH CEDAR AND OAK AND PARA CORD

http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/index.php?cPath=2_336 Drop Point Tactical...I am also working on my own modification of a kukri from this site:

http://e-sarcoinc.com/search.aspx?find=BAY044 This site used to sell them 3 for $60...

Basically I want to learn how to do the handles on one of these kit knifes so I can swap out the handles on my kukri's. I would really like to get one of these: http://www.m4040.com/Knifemaking/M40Bowkri.htm I asked this guy if he would sell one or make the CAD file available for download.
