  • Bear Ammo shortage?

Seems like the Silver/Golden Bear .223 ammo available online is drying up for the moment. A lot of the .223 bulk purchase ammo is not available right now and my usual sources aren't getting it back in stock. No matter which manufacturer it looks like everyone is a little short for the moment.

For that matter, looks like the major rifle calibers (.223, 7.62x39, .308) are all a little short right now. Maybe it's just the websites I'm going to?

Anyone know why or when new stocks are coming in?

I was at a gun show last weekend and the guy who I get my ammo from said that last month that there some cargo vessels that were held up in customs and he had no idea when they were going to be released.

Ammoman seems to have some. They advertised that they have some new Ulyadada type ammo (mil-spec, whatever that means) that seems to work pretty good. I've shot the Ulyadada before, but not a lot. I think it's one of those normally marketed under another name types.

I use CTD, palmetto, AIM, ammotogo and sgammo...all of which are running fairly low on the bulk pack of .223 (500-1000 rounds) from just about every manufacturer. They have some of the single boxes, but in the past month, supplies are starting to dry up especially in the 62 grain class. Some folks still have Tula and there is still plenty of the higher quality stuff out there, but the cheap plinking ammo seems to be all on back order or sold out. Some 55 grain still out there, but it's going fast as well.

And there are some that can't roll their own that have to depend on a supply of the cheaper plinking ammo. I.E. when I lived in Colorado, I couldn't store any appreciable amounts of reloading components since I rented and it was in the contract that I couldn't have large amounts of explosive powders. But there was no limit on how many loaded rounds I could have. Hence, cheap ammo became my mainstay.

So there are times when one does need to buy it cheap and stack it deep, however, are unable to reload due to other considerations.

AIM has 62gr Wolf for a good price. Just checked. They're out of 55gr, though.

AIM is out of the 62gr as well. Only show Aguila 55gr and Prvi Partisan PPU 55gr in stock.

I live in McKinney Texas that has a Cheaper Than Dirt retail store. I am not trying to make a buck here just help out. Let me know if you need me to pick anything up for you and send it or hold it until you make it down to the Dallas area.

Also, my Dad is a BVAC dealer. Reasonably priced and great ammo with re loadable components. Decent stock on hand.
