The only ones that have had real issues lately at the range are ones people have tinkered with and added all these "custom" parts from or new Colts. The new Colts seem to either have tight chambers either that or they are chambered for 223 instead of 5.56 dunno but it is something some manufactures are doing and you need to stay away from.
I have no issues with my DPMS and my Bushmaster ran good too (traded it off) and my old Colt SP1 ran good and still does as Sharpshooter inherited it.

I used Budsgun shop to buy at least 12 of my guns and only have good things to say about them. If you find a AR you like there click on it and read the reveiws at the bottom of the page. They are a good to see what others think of the gun that bought one."If you're not shootin; you should be loadin; If you're not loadin; you should be movin; If you'not movin; someone's gonna cut your head off and put it on a stick."

The Bushmaster Carbon 15 should be avoided.
Olympic Arms has allot of bad ones out there but allot of good ones too. I would avoid them unless I knew first hand that the gun was a good one, like from a trusted friend who had run the crap out of one.
Pretty good to stay away from Hesse, Blackthorne, and RGuns.
Colt is selling their carbines right at $950.00 if you shop around and they are the gold standard.
As for value: Palmetto State Armory and DSA has some really good products at great prices.
Rock River is great but you can pay too much if you don't watch out.
Bushmaster and DPMS are good, but you can get better for the same money.

Not hard at all. Most factory AR15 will come with the a frame and the back up irons mount directly to the flat top rear. Normally with a pin or screw. Thirty second job at most. Just make sure you use Lock-tite so it doesn't come undoneExperience is a cruel teacher, gives the exam first and then the lesson.

I believe that ARs today are all of a high quality. There are of course, some that are better than others - but you will pay a premium and the difference may be nominal. The quality differences are usually in the parts quality as well as accuracy.
The prices of ARs start in the $600 range and can exceed $2.500. There are reasons for the price differnces. You need to research before buying. Note that there are many opinions and not all of them are reliable.
I use Rock River because of the price/quality ratio. I like the RR 2 stage trigger, the accuracy, reliability, etc. I have been using RR for over 3 years and own 4 of their ARs and 2 of their LAR 8s in 7.62 Nato. Also the majority of the members in our group are using Rock River.
I have owned and used Colts and the old Armalites. Colts are great, but keep in mind that the civilian versions are not built as well as the military models. Colts can also be slightly higher priced than Rock River and some of the other AR makes.
If I didn't have my RRs, I would be happy with Colt, DPMS, Bushmaster, S&W, etc. etc. etc.
By the way, Buds is a good company. Great prices and service. They can be trusted.EXPECT THE BEST - PREPARE FOR THE WORSE

Stay far, far away from anything from Hessee, Blackthorne, Vulcan, and Velocity Arms. They're all the same rebranded company run by Todd Bailey. He's also infamous for butchering HK clones. I would NEVER buy anything that Toad has had a hand it.
As far as ARs go, I've got Colt, Bushmaster, DSA, ArmaLite, DPMS, Spike's, Palmetto State, Noveske, some mutt home builds, and a couple or three one off custom jobs (oddball AR caliber uppers).
I took my time buying/scrounging parts to see how inexpensively I could wrench together an AR awhile back. I've got $434 in a mutt. I bought a ban era Bushmaster upper with the ungodly loud permanently attached AK style brake for $195 that had barely been shot. Put a $99 Colt take out M16 B/BC from CDNN in it. A buddy gave me one of those goofy ban era fixed M4 stocks for installing a collapsible stock on his gun. I modified it to collapse. It's on a blem lower I gave $50 for and slapped a DPMS LPK in it (I get dealer pricing at Brownells), and topped it off with a used carry handle I bought of the internet.
It ain't the most beautiful rifle in the world, but I've probably got 15k rounds through it, and it still runs like a top.

I guess I own the only "Good" AR-15 Olympic ever built?
Seriously, they had some problems in the 'ban' days and some real crap-ola got out the door but their current production rifles are solid shooters. It's not like they are the only Manufacturers that have ever had quality problems; even the big dogs like S&W, Winchester, and Ruger all have infamous examples of their sometimes slip-shod work, a quick web search will give you hours of reading and pictures.
The Gov't. issued Colt M-16A1's that we used had a certain percentage that had reliability problems and were declared unusable and returned to depot (and presumably Colt) by my unit while I was in the Army.
Just a couple of months ago, I saw an article about a recent report said that 40% of the guns sold in the US were defective in some way- while I highly doubt that number, still it indicates that most companies have SOME quality issues.
Talk to people you KNOW and trust, and go from there.
I'll trust my Olympic AR, it's been reliable for going on 15 years (built in '97).Brokedownbiker

Me and the wife went to local gun show last week and picked up ever AR We could, everyone of them felt and looked like crap. All had scuffs and scraps on them, o and all said NEW.
We then went to 4 local gun stores, the guns looked better but still was not impressed with what we found. The 5th shop had a Rock River Tacctical operator2, as soon as the wife picked it up she said this is the one. I bet we held 35 guns that day.
I ordered it that day from ar15sales.com got it shipped to my FFL for $960. This gun has some nice upgrades
O and most of the trash we handled at the gun show was $950 plus.
The only down side was its a 5 week wait to get the gun
I'm sure u will love your AR,
