  • Knife sharpening confession.

Even though I have used knives (50 years) and made them for a few years I'm horrible at sharpening them on just a stone. So I use a Lanskey system the one with the stones on a rod & a clamp for the knife.
I've also used 1 of the wallyworld pocket ceramic jobbies for touch-up in the field.
What do you folks use or is your favorite?
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

I've been using the Lansky system for at least 30 years. Especially on the kitchen knives.
I also have one of those cheap, small, two sided deals that have carbide in one side and ceramic in the other that you hold on a flat surface and draw the blade thru. This is what I use on my working pocket knives, that I don't want to waste time on.
I used the Lansky on the M6 bayonet for my M1A. Sweeet!!!

Looks like a neat trick, but I would add that you may want to count strokes so that each side is even.

I just use an old Carborundum combination (2-sided) stone. Fast and easy, works great on axes and hatchets, too.

I like crock sticks for sharpening. I like ceramic over diamond, but my field sharpener is diamond rods just because they're less likely to break.
