Yep it shortens the true distance some. Get up on the house and make the neighbors talk while ya practice LOL. Good luck and looking forward to some major porker posts!!!

I'll be in a tree stand with no shots beyond 35 yards from the tree. I've never shot from a tree stand before. I've used plenty of ground blinds and spot and stalks here in AZ though. I know I have to adjust for the angle of the shot because of the geometry. If I get one, you guys can definitely count me posting photos.
Be sure to bend at the waist to shoot downward. If you never shot a bow from a treestand you may want to practice because it is definitly different than shooting from the ground.

Good timing with this thread. Ive been looking at bows and I'm trying to decide between recurve or compound. i have a 27inch draw and don't plan on shooting anything bigger then a whitetail. not being able to use home maid arrows with a compound is something to think about. my BIL just bought stakes in a store and said he will hook me up on prices. so maybe i should just get both....

Both would be good! Both can be addicitve and truthfully i'm not even that good with them but I sure enjoy the hunts. My favorite show is Tim Wells on Relentless Pursuit where he takes everything with them

I have two crossbows and love them both. Its funny this came up because I was just checking the scope sat on my Horton vision 175. My 9yr old is strong enough to shoot it if he rests his elbow on his knee. It still takes a man or a husky lady to pull it back but it flies super true and for a crossbow it is not that loud. Compared to my matthews compound it is probably twice as loud, but the bolt is moving twice as fast.

Funny you should post this. I've been cleaning out the basement and found two older compound bows my wife and I used to use in Colorado. They got put away and forgotten. I'm gonna take them to a bow shop and have them checked out. I also found a range about an hour or so from my place. I live in a subdivision so shooting off my deck's out of the question :-(

I have a PSE Dream Season that has put 4 deer on the table in the last three years that I have owned it so I am happy with that.
I also kept my old Bow that is nothing more than one of those sporting goods stores combo pack specials. It works but is nothing like shooting the PSE.

I am seriously concidering getting the PSE TAC-15. Not that I need it, but hey, the cool factor of being able to go between .204, 5.56mm, .50 Beowulf, and a crossbow on one lower really does something for me!!
