Secondary firearm for hunting

A quick video of the value of taking a pistol while hunting. It starts getting interesting at the 1:40 mark. A little funny, it also shows the value of having a pistol backing up your rifle in a hunting situation. While this one didn't end badly, it very well could have turned out really wrong for the person behind the camera.

Sometimes it's nice to have a camera in one hand and a nice magnum revolver in the other when dealing with curious wildlife. Especially those that are hungry and don't care you are asking politely for them to leave.

I don't remember what 'reality show' it was, but this guy was in Alaska, and anytime he saw a bear, he would say "Hey Bear, whoa bear!" Not loudly, just at a normal tone of voice. I wonder if this guy had some sort of scent cover he was using that the bear was tracking.
Only ever seen a bear in the woods once, and I was glad to see him go.

There are other similar stories but this one made national news.
Sad day when a stranger thinks he can go onto someone else's land, and when confronted turn around and start shooting them...

Check your laws, as I am not allowed to carry any firearm "legally" when I am out hunting with my birds.

Its not Texas, its that stupid Federal license for falconry that doesn't allow it. Stupid feds always screw up everything.

I remember seeing an episode of Ted Nugent's show where he was bowhunting boar. He put a couple of arrows into Porky and only succeeded in irritating him, and that was about it. Ted went over to check out the boar, the boar said "Hah! Right where I want you!" and charged. Ted had to finish him off with his 1911. :D

Bears by nature are nosey and curious about most things. They have very poor eyesight and rely on smell and hearing. I have had them wander into my front yard and come to the storm door and look into the house. Of course I was standing in the living room watching him with my 12ga loaded with slugs just in case he had the idea of coming into the house. He finally walked off and went back the way he came back into the woods. I even live in the city limits in a subdivision and we have bears and turkey come through often.

I always carry my S&W .40 when antwhere especially out in the woods. Filled with cor-bon dpx it will be fatal to anything. I tested these rounds in wet newspaper and holy S#@* they are nasty.
