  • Anzio 50

I'm looking at a mag fed Anzio 50 that my local gun shop has for sale and I was hoping that someone has actually seen/fired one of these and what your thoughts are on it. I've done all the research on the web and it looks like a quality piece.
What a long, strange trip it's been.....

Ive shot several matches with Mike at Anzio on the bench next to me. Nice guy very knowledgeable, good shot. I have seen hime shoot the 50s the 14.?? mm russian caliber gun and a 20mm. When he shoots a match and needs the best accuracy he shoots a 338Lap Mag. Unless you are wanting to stop armor i belive the 338 is best. To buy all the gear to reload 50 is very expensive, while 338 can be loaded using convertional reloading presses and priming tools. I know the 50 has its place and if you need one you need a 50, but to most of us the 338 is enough without all the weight and expense. On a lighter note i saw he shoot a 50 , place it on the next bench and then shoot a 20 mm and blow the 50 of onto the concrete floor with the muzzle brake jet. Shoot a 50 and a 338 before you decide, a 338 RUM is even cheaper to buy and operate than a 338 Lap Mag. and only gives up 100-150 FPS. This is my opinon only and not mean to second guess anyones firearms choices.

Thanks for the reply. I do respect your opinion and I have looked at what you're saying in my own mind. If I actually had a 'need' for either a 338 or a 50, I know that I'd be in dire straits at that point. This is more of something I want, but never seriously considered doing until I ran into this Anzio. The price is definitely right and it's an ultra low serial#, making it a little special, which is why I'm considering it. But, before dropping that kind of $$ on what is essentially an investment with a great excitement factor, I'm looking for opinions on whether it's an idea that didn't really catch on or a limited availability marvel. I've seen a few videos on the 20 mm and that is one awesome piece of hardware.
