  • Finally got my CHL after all these years

After the majority of my life (with the exception of 6 yrs as a constable) I am "legal" to carry concealed to protect myself and family. License includes handgun, baton, knife (except switchblade or butterfly which is dumb) or electric weapon.

My wife just sent her's in also. The new law went into effect Nov 1. and the Wisconsin DOJ recieved 30,000 applications the first week, at $50 a crack that's $1.5 million in revenue the first week.

Still wish they would have voted constitutional carry in but its as close as we are going to get to it.
Application, Check, Background check, license for 5 yrs. Recinded but highly recommend any training requirements.

That's great Bear! This shouldn't be an issue for any American, but sadly far too many still don't have this right. Now we need The people in IL and now CA to wake up.

Just think, if the people of Wisconsin hadn't elected Scott Walker. You may have not had the opportunity to carry. It seems that the Unions are controlling the state again and convinced the majority of the state that he his a bad guy, for trying to cut spending and create jobs. They started the recall procedures.

Yea, but once the truth comes out I am confident that he will Prevail in a Recall Election. One school district near me went from a $400K deficit to a $1million surplus due to his collective bargining changes, which allowed them to hire more teachers and decrease class size.

Hopefully parents/voters will see this across the state. The day of Union control has got to end.

Amen to that. And I hope you are right about the people in Wisconsin coming to their senses. But the thugs have lot's of "free" money to spend to defeat him.

But back on topic, Congrats for getting your CHL, also called your ("God Given Right" to protect yourself and your family). :-)

Congrats! Hopefully you will actually carry it. I have recently met a large group that has theirs just to show "the man" that they have the right but no one actually carries and some dont even own handguns. Don't be to hard on those 2 weapons. they had their place in the time and the switchblades still have use as "auto assist" and I know some real good Operators who carry/use them regularly. These 2 weapons were designed for one handed opening and were ground breakers in this for their time. The psychological effect of the butterfly is no more dumb than an ASP baton or a pump shotgun.

I wasn't degrading those two weapons, I was just saying what a dumb law it was, citizens cannot carry those two knives is all, heck I own several copies of each, next to a good gun, a good knife gives me the warm fuzzies. As far as actual carrying, been doing so for 25 years, hence the "legal" in my original post.

Congrats, I was glad to see WI finally pass a CC bill. Now if we can just convince MN to do the same with a suppressor bill...

I downloaded the application at midnight (0001 or so November 1), filled it out and drove it to the post office. Still haven't got mine in, but I expect they were deluged. I understand they have 45 days to get it done.

Can't wait to have "The Man's" permission to carry the means to defend myself.

I just finished my course this weekend...
Already have all the paper work off into the mail.

Now just got to wait for everything to get back. They said it usually takes 60-90 days, wow Government at its best = 60 days is good turnaround for 10 total pages of paper work. That is LEAN work flow there! That is who I want running my health care... Doctor says "You have an advanced form of cancer, you have 60 days to live unless we operate. But it will take 60-90 days for the government to approve that operation....Maybe you should go ahead and make sure to say your good byes and have your affairs in order."

Congrats and I hope to be carrying soon too! (Maybe by March LOL)

                    Thanks,

                        Congratulations!!
Wife thinks I am nuts, but I carry everywhere (legally of course).
My 3 y/o will say when we are getting ready to leave the house, "Daddy do you have your gun?"
To which I kneel down to her level and reply "Of course I do Angel."

One day you might be asking her that question (after proper training of course).
