  • "You will strike at his heel and he will strike at your head"

So i get home tonight, let the dog out and what do i see inches from my ankle....the head of a water moccasin poking out from under the building. I put the dog away, get my house mate, and my mossberg 500e youth model .410 pump. its got an 18 inch CB barrel from their pistol grip model on it. the house mate grabs a rake and chases the ****** out from under where he is hiding. i let one fly that blows his *** off but he makes it around the cornor of the building. i piie the corner at low ready, and there he is. he turns toward me, i line up the brass bead on his head and hit the trigger from 8 feet.

    cause of death: explosive decapitation!

    obligatory pic of carcass

There is no mind melding. the snakes head disappeared after the shot.

you have to understand. this has been my biggest fear living where I have been living. my dog is a 14 lb chihuahua mix. one bite from a venomous snake and she's dead. this thing was right at the base of the door. she ran right past the snake not two feet away. a few nights ago it was raining and there was another snake out there and i chased her away from it. i believe it was the same snake.

its been very rainy and i basically live in a swamp. toads and frogs congregate outside eating the bugs that are attracted to the light. this guys probably been eating the toads.

Yumm, rattlesnake (heck, most any kind of snake) chopped into big bits, dipped in a light batter, rolled in corn meal, and fried. That's some good stuff there!

Often see moccasins near my house, but saw and killed the first copperhead in over 15 years this past summer. We also have a couple of small dogs< 8 pounds. I do worry about snakes due to the dogs and our hens.
