  • Looking for parts

I have an old .22 rifle. It's a Marlin model 1897, and is about 100 years old. I've checked the Marlin web site, but found out they don't support this rifle anymore. I'm in need of a hammer spring, and a dovetailed front sight to put this fine old rifle back into service. Any suggestions?

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Thanks Elza, I couldn't believe they had the hammer spring on hand!! Under $20. That will save me a lot. The gunsmith I talked to wanted $35 just for labor. They were out of the front sights, but will keep checking with them.

Here's another parts store for old rifles. I found several parts for my 1903 Savage 22 here.

          Good luck.

Another place to try for old parts is On Target Inc. in Kalamazoo Mi. 269-375-4570. They will take orders by phone and ship. They've bought out old shops and inventories over the years and have a pretty good supply of hard to find parts. I haven't been up that way in a few years, but I doubt much has changed.
