So I went to the range the other day and was talking to one of the instructors there about the VA requirements to get a CCW. He was telling me about this class that had to be taken where you HAD to supply your own 9mm plus 1000 rounds, it was a three day class, cost a good penny, etc. Even then, if you lose the certificate, the state would ONLY accept an original certificate signed by the instructor, so you'd have to stay in touch with your original instructor when you needed to renew in 5 years (or be sure not to lose the cert).
Then I go on the VA website, and it says I can just show my DD214 and get a CCW. $10 application fee. That's it. For PilloTox, she can take any one of the hunter's safety courses or standard weapons safety classes to qualify. What gives? Anyone have experience getting a CCW in VA?
Either way, I'm going to give it a shot with my DD214 and see what happens. Was this instructor only feeding us a load of bravo sierra to get us to take his class?
