Well, May 11 with be exactly 6 months and no delivery yet (from RMJTactical.com). At the 3 month mark I contacted the company via email, for 4 days straight until they finally answered me and promised it was going to be shipped out soon, they never answered the phone or their voicemail. PayPal has said it has been too long to request a refund, so unless the company is "willing" I am out my $375 +S&H. Just wanted to warn the forum.

I obviously will update you all if I ever receive my tomahawk...

I called RMJ yesterday about mine, and the person I spoke with said there was a batch being heat treated right now, and more would be shipping out soon. Don't know how long "soon" will be, or if your or my order is in that batch. Just thought I would let you know. I've been chomping at the bit to get mine. Hopefully all works out for us. I think I'm getting close to 6 months also.

I was at the local fun shop yesterday and the had 20 of the Shrikes in stock for sale. They do have the gunshops logo on them though. I dont think its cool posting their web site here and may be against forum rules as well. I did not have the money to spend on one though, they are pricey. I need to get my food preps in order before I purchase something like this. I would also need to take a class on how to use one as well. Do they even have tomahawk fighting classes? or is it on par with knife fighting???? (shrug)

There are some videos on Paladin Press but i'm gonna throw this out there. If you cleave someone in the public arena with a gazzilion dollar tomahawk, that serves no other real purpose in the common mans eyes, before SHTF the jury is going to run up in you deep. No dozen soccermoms are going to believe that you just happened to have it laying in your honda while on your mickieDs run there and it was your only option. Now if you are at your house and the hamburglar busts in to get your happymeal all bets are off but take this into consideration before strapping it your bag while hiking in the national parks ok.

Does a glock field knife count, it's balanced for throwing.

From my undertanding, and im probably wrong... The modern tomahawk carried by our troops from vietnam on was more used as an extraction tool for downed aircraft/vehicles, an entry tool into doorways and through walls/gates/etc.. and for fighting lastly... hand to hand if it got in to close and small arms not an option.
                  Thanks matt.

I have a cpl of cold steel tomahawks , and just ordered a SOG fusion , i like the Cold Steel Norse hawk best so far, bigger blade and it throws well, as a last ditch weapon, id take it over a knife, the handle gives better distance.

I don't think you can have too many weapons around the house or on you at all times. Guns, knives, hawks, hatchets, clubs(I've made a custom one that is club/spear), etc...I keep anything that can be used as a weapon handy and nearby.

Whew! Go to Amazon and type in "tomahawk". They sell enough cold steel weapons to arm everyone from cowboys to ninja's! LOL

It's an amazing thing to see what a trained, motivated man can do with a 'hawk in one hand and a Kabar in the other. The fight usually doesn't last as long as it takes to read this post.
When the woman at the door screeched, "Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms!" I, naturally, assumed it was a delivery....

I've been using the Cold Steel Trail Hawk for a while. I like that it comes with a hammer end. Something the I've done with the backside of hatchets all the time, but this one is designed for it. It has a longer handle than most hatchets so it can do double duty on the trail as an axe. Not as good as an axe, but pretty versatile for a single tool. For me it's more tool than weapon. Though I'm pretty sure it would hurt if you smacked someone upside the head with it.

I never saw one in Vietnam, but our unit was mechanized infantry. We had a detatchment of Rangers, and I never saw them with a tomahawk either. I have been told by a two tour Special Forces guy they didn't use them either.
That's not saying they weren't used, however. I just never saw any in our neck of the woods.
FWIW, I bought an Estwing hatchet from Home Depot to keep in my truck. As a tool. At my age if I have to get close enough to danger to use it as a weapon my tactics have already failed.

I love my Cold Steel Hawks for camping and utility use. I also imagine it would do well in combat, but hope I never have to find out. If you have the time, here's a good video showing some of it's uses.
