altho it is nearly impossible to reliably hit a man with one beyond 125 yds and 100 yds is a more feasible limitation. Dont count upon it to pierce a man's or a deer's skull beyond 50 yds, especially not the subsonic loads, used in a silenced rifle. Since it is stupid to be in hostile country in daylight, the 100 yd limitation of the .22 rifle is not all that big a problem. Silent .22's, coming out of the dark, or from thick cover, just at dusk, so you can vanish in the darkness, are no joke at all. Looter types will quickly move on, if your supplies and shelter are buried and well hidden and you are adequately stealthy. to them your area is just another hunk of woods, like any other, so why die over being able to stay there?
