Flash Suppressors vs 74 brake

This is something I've been wanting to do some experimenting with as well. I want to see just how well my Manticore flash suppressor does in the dark. I want to determine if its effective enough to outweigh the recoil control of the factory brake. Nicely done.

In the night shots, were all weapons using the same ammo?
I'm looking to get a better flash suppressor for my WASR-10. I will be using M-67 when TSHTF, and whatever's handy to practice with. Is there a lot of difference between M67 and Brown bear propellent wise? From my understanding, they use similarly designed bullets or something.
I don't really know a lot about AK projectiles/cartridges. That seems to be a whole 'nuther kinda crazy to me.
I'll probably care about it one day :)---------------

Okay, guess that's one more thing to buy. Where can you get the wolverine? Here is the link to the CNC warrior four slot A2 birdcage. Which do you feel did the best out of the two?
Thanks for the video. It really helps to see the difference.Protecting the sheep from the wolves that want them, their family, their money and full control of our Country!

we shot different ammo through different rifles because each of the rifles and muzzle devices featured where owned by different people. In my case my rifle is the one with the 4 slot fs. i shoot Yugo. the 74 brake rifle her ammo is brown bear and we fired that because my ammo is corrosive and she cleans her rifle about every 1k rounds or so while mine gets flushed with windex after every shoot. what the camera unfortunately doesn't capture is how bright the flash is. The brown bear 74 brake combo is BRIGHT WHITE. its like a strobe light the entire area 20 feet+ around the shooter is light up. the other ammo we fired even out of a 74 brake wasn't as bright but there was alot of flash (previous night shoots) I later fired 4 rounds of the BB out of my SGl21 and it was a little brighter and larger than the yugo but nothing at all like the brake.
the AKM flash suppressors seem to do a better job at FS than the larger Bulgarian design. Unfortunately they can't be used on a SGL21 without the rifle undergoing drastic modification. not filmed was a wasr-10 with get this....a 14x1 lh thread version of the early 60s 3 prong m16/ar15 flash suppressor. The rifle looked like the front end had an identity crisis however that flash suppressor worked well also. The wolverine had the least amount of flash over all. If i owned an AKM i would get that Flash suppressor. the nice thing about AKMs is the cost of flash suppressors and there are also of different designs. The latest Book of the AK47 did a fs comparison (AKM) and they found the $10 cope bird cage to work really well.
however 74 shooters and SGL series shooters only have a couple of choices for the FS. basically we have the bulgarian type made by CNC warrior and the Manticore. The 5 slot CNC warrior seemed to have about the same amount of flash as the 4 slot version.
overall I am pleased with the CNC Warrior 4 slot flash suppressor. Knowing what I know now I'd still order it and put it on my rifle. it beats the hell out of the stock brake. Another thing about dumping the brake is.....the rifle is quieter. the muzzle blast is significantly reduced. at $28 or so there is no reason not to have one for your 74 or SGL series rifle.
I ordered my FS (and also an arsenal single stage trigger pack) from cnc warrior on a Sunday. I had my order via ups ground on that Wednesday. shipping was a reasonable $7.47. responses to email inquiries regarding my order were prompt and professional. I would definitely order from them again."You are the Vice Regent of the Jews" -QRPRAT77

I don't know where to get the wolverine. I think it might be an out of production item. However there are a plethora of AKM FSs that are similar. The type 84 fs and yankee hills phantom come to mind. I had the phantom on my last ar-15 and it did a wonderful job at flash suppression. i suspect the AKM version works well. I'm going to try to get an inexpensive AKM as a backup rifle (wasr, gp1975) before the end of the year and I'll try to repeat this test again with a couple of AKM flash suppressors."You are the Vice Regent of the Jews" -QRPRAT77

m67 has far less flash than brown bear. however your wasr is an AKM type rifle (45 degree gas block 14x1 lh threaded barrel) and there are a TON of good flash suppressors for AKMs here in the US. You might want to look at the copes bird cage. its like $10 and got a good review in the latest book of the ak47."You are the Vice Regent of the Jews" -QRPRAT77
