Opinions wanted about M16/AR15 magazines

Greetings all!
I own a Bushmaster XM15. This is a new purchase for me and I have not had the chance to send any lead down range. But I'm slowly collecting magazines for it. It came with the standard steel magazine which were the same ones I used in the Army. I also got my hands on a few others. However, I just bought a new mag by Magpul PMAG (it's a plastic like polymer or something). I was just wondering what your opinions are between these two types of magazines. Which one do you prefer? Which one do you think is more reliable?

I have had no issues with the steel mags with the green followers, Pmags are real good too.
I don't really have a preference, the Pmags on some models you can see your ammo count but thats about it as far as my opinion

First, the USGI mags are ALUMINUM, not steel... They are tough if you buy real USGI (many manufacturers). But they do ideally need some upgrades to make them even more reliable, mainly the Magpul or other brand follower.

The PMAGS are tough and battle-proven, as are the aluminum USGI mags. Some say the BLACK are the toughest, but that debate rages on...

Either will serve well. I personally like the PMAGS and own a bunch...

I've been shooting an AR/M16 of some form, for about 30 years now. My hands down favorite mags, are PMags. I had the pleasure to be an early beta tester, so I guess that makes me a bit biased. My close second favorite choice, is to find the best quality GI mags I can, and replace the stock followers with Magpul followers, and preferably, replace the stock floorplates with Magpul L plates.

The p-mags are good , also I have always had good luck with "OKAY" (and their offshots like Colt & NHMTG ) mags as far as GI aluminium mags go .

Magpul for the win! Most mags will do you just fine, but for durability and longevity, Magpul takes it hands down.

Just to give you an idea of how tough and reliable they are. Most swear by them.
