  • Got a new Ruger 10/22

Bought a new Ruger 10/22 and 500 rounds of ammo. $189 for rifle and $13 for ammo. the Wifey didnt even give me a hard time.
its a plain jane carbine model with wood stock. has anyone taken off the butt plate and made any compartments for survival stuff. I thought about drilling a hole and putting some extra just in case rounds and also maybe a small compass.

There are a ton of aftermarket accessories for the 10/22. Research before you drill as you may find a replacement stock that has what you are looking for. But if you do any mods, please post pics for all of us to see.

I keep mine handy here at the homestead. The thing I like about the 10/22 is, unlike tube magazine rifles, you can keep several magazines loaded with different ammo to suit the situation. Right now the mag in the rifle has CCI Stingers, the other mag has regular velocity Winchester X Pert.
Everyone should own at least one 22LR rifle. And if it's only one, make it a Ruger 10/22.

http://www.tacticalinc.comWhat everyone else said. I love mine, the only problem I've had is with Butler Creek Mags, the don't work if loaded to capiciaty, but work ok if only loaded half way. I'm looking at the polycarbonate ones from Tactical Innovations

10/22 is hard to beat for the money. Accessories are endless, pretty much anything you could possibly want.
