Yes. <G> I have a Savage 770 in 30-.06 and it's probably the most accurate rifle I've ever fired. If I could figure out a way to put more than four rounds in it, it would become my MBR. Think about getting the accu-trigger for it, though. I have fired one of those, and they are SWEET!
I have two Savage leftys. One model 14 short action 308 and a 22 mag. Used rifles are always a bet. The last few inches of the lands and grooves are critical as that will determine how consistantly the projectiles leave the muzzle. 308 is my all time favorite.
Very accurate rifle for the money. If your definitely gonna buy used, check out the barrel as best you can. Even small nicks in the crown can affect your accuracy.
Course if the used one is like $200. it's a worthwhile gamble :)

I was amazed at how accurate my Savage 308 with AccuTrigger was. First time out ever with it I shot a 4.75" group at 600 yards. I probably will never be able to do it again, but I know the rifle has the capabilty to do sub MOA with no problems at all!
My first hunting rifle (still have it) was a Savage 110 in 30-06. With the cheap scope and wood stock using factory ammo I was able to shoot 1.5-2" groups at 100 yards which IMO is plenty accurate for a hunting rifle. With a bedded stock, decent scope, handloads and an accutrigger I wouldn't be surprised if it could shoot moa or better.
