  • Rossi Combo Gun

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of the Rossi combo rifles. Either the matched set/pair or even the new wizard.

I am thinking of getting one of these. It will be primarily a truck gun. I like the idea of the rifle being able to break down and I like the idea of multiple calibers, so that is why I'm looking at the Rossi.

I've looked at the .22/.44 mag/ 20 gauge combo and the .22/.410 combo. Also, does anyone have EXPERIENCE with hunting deer and hogs with a .410? The only .410 experience I have is hunting squirrels when I was a kid. I checked online and .410 is legal to hunt deer with in the states that I hunt but this would be more of a true survival gun, not neccessarily my primary hunting gun.

Any help on the matter would be great. Thanks.

The 410 slug has about the same energy as a 357. It's on the low end but will do the job cleanly at reasonable deep woodland ranges of 50yds or less. The range can be extended for survival if you don't mind the chance of tracking and letting time work. It's not legal here for deer. I have no experience on the combo guns. My friend had a combo gun in 12/30-30 way back in the day and he liked it but I don't recall the brand.

I've got the Rossi .22/.410 and its a good combo gun. the only problem I have is when firing the .410, is that the recoil and the smooth forestock allow the takedown stud to slam into my index finger of my support hand. After a while this gets to be really painfull and irritating. But this combo gun is just my emergency pack gun.

          wood stocked one here.
trigger is heavy as all get out, but like all single shots will do great. pretty accurate as well. havent played with the 410 part of it much as the 22lr is more of mt speed for small critters. Basically its my daughters go get us a snack rifle ;p

I have a couple of these single shots. I have a Matched Pair in .22/410 and .22/20. I also picked up a single shot rifle in .223.

I picked up the Matched Pairs for less than $110 each and the .223 was found at a gunshow and cost me about $150. I was hoping to put together a combo that could handle .22/410/20/223. Only problem is the 410 barrel won't match up with the larger receiver for the 20.

The trigger is decent. I have a scope mount on the .22 barrel and the 223 barrel and they work well with a Bushnell TRS 25. They work and work well.

After looking on youtube I saw a couple of videos talking about putting items in the hollow stock and that got me thinking. I put a Mora knife, Bic lighter and a garbage bag in the stock. The forend will hold some cotton balls or Tinder Quick and a button compass.

I put a couple of these set ups together and have one in each vehicle.

To pick up a .22/shotgun combo for less than the price of some shotgun's barrels isn't a bad deal.

Everyone that shoots mine is favorably impressed.
