  • What are you running for optics and why?

Have a decent little selection of optics on my rifles varying from cheap red dots on the loaner rifles we keep for classes to Aimpoints, Trijicons, etc.

I prefer a magnified optic on my personal rifles, but sometimes size factors in as well- have Trijicon MRO dot sights on my Krinks to work better with the smaller size of the platform and to keep them foldable.

Just came to think of it and the "glass" I have on my carbines is more expensive than the glass on my scoped rifles. Long range shooters would chastise me for that I'm sure.

What are you using and why did you pick what you picked?
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

Cheap no name brand on FAL...seems to be holding up so far but only have 200 or so rounds thru it. Carbines I have Vortex, Aimpoint PROs, and a Holosun with solar. All work, and all seem to be holding up. Have more rounds thru the Vortex and Aimpoints then the Holosun. Have a Nikon on my .308 bolt and a Bushnell on the .223 Rem bolt. Both are spot on.

Reason for selection: FAL was at gun show and saw this scope and decided on giving it a try...price was very good. Vortex was due to lifetime warranty and price point. AIMpoint was because "I needed a Aimpoint" or so I was told...so I bought one. Holosun, well I needed a red dot on a new build and thought I would give it a try. Which do I like best...hard to say as they all have pros and cons. Vortex does not turn off automatically so thats a big con but it has a red and green dot. Aimpoint long battery life is a plus and Holosun long battery life and solar charging cabability....they all do what they are supposed to do...help out my eyes. Behind my Aimpoint I do have a 3x magnifier that flips up/down....On the bolts, the Nikon is a hunting scope and not "tactical" and the Bushnell came with the rifle I bought from a friend that was an ex-sniper in military. That one is dialed in for 69g HPBT
