KNIFE LAWS!!!

Methinks he means it is time to move to a place where he CAN carry without reprocussions. Here in Illinois, we can neither carry openly nor concealed. How sucky....

ssonb: check your city laws also, as Texas the law is any knife is ok as long as the blade is not longer than 5" (I believe-not including switchblades or ballistic knives) HOWEVER, in this city we went through, ANY lockblade is illegal. So state can say one thing, but the city or county can make it stricter, so be careful...

I am trying to get it comfirmed ,Here in Ga the CCW law was changed to include covering you carrying an auto knife. I have dug a little and the law does not mention Knives but it was worded so a CCW would include you carring "Dangerous Weapons" I hope this is totaly true.

(of course, here it's considered inappropriate for a man to leave home without both knife and gun on him.) It's time for me to move.

Bearman202,
For around six months before I got my CCW, I open carried a Hi-Point .45 all over town, into and around all kinds of stores.
After a month or so, the manager of one of the local chains, a daily stop on my rounds, told me that "if she let me carry, she would have to let the "N***'s" carry." I didn't tell her that one of her Black clerks CCW'ed. LOL. But, I never went back there, instead I went to a sister store, where the manager told me that my carrying made his help feel safer.
Got pulled over in my GF's dad's car for expired tags. The trooper just asked my passenger to step out while he retrieved my gun from the console. She got back in while he ran my info. She was carrying a 3" locker fully exposed on a belt clip. He returned my piece and gave me a verbal on the registration.
Went into a local grocery store thru the liquer side door. A LEO inside saw me and walked out. Picked up the items I wanted and left. The LEO was waiting, stopped me and asked, "Why are you wearing a gun?"
Huh? WTF? Said, "Because I can." This non plussed him such that he didn't get my ID or anything even close to SOP. He just left. LOL
Final story; The manager of a drugstore was so frightened by my EMPTY HOLSTER that he didn't even bother to consult with his assistant manger whom I had personally interacted with for at least 5 minutes at the register and outside the store before sending the law out to my house. The three LEO's answering the call followed SOP, took my story, told me the manager had 86'ed me forever, returned my Hi-Point, and left.
Observations; 90% of people don't even notice that someone is carrying a huge gun on their hip. Half of those who do see it will strike up a gun related conversation. One tenth of those who see it will freak out and smaller fraction will express appreciation for your protection.

As a friend said once, if the cops knew the law, they'd be lawyers, because it pays better. I worry about getting hassled. I came close once, when I was frisked and my ccw carry piece was taken. It was given back after the cop finished searching my truck, (without a warrant) while the other cop was going through every compartment in my wallet. I guess he was looking for the backup pound of weed most people carry in their back pocket. About the only thing they accomplished was to send my opinion of cops straight down the toilet. I know they have a rough job, and I wouldn't do it for any amount of money, but they need to use a LITTLE common sense.
It's good to keep in mind that most of the cops out there are scared out of their minds most of the time. They really don't know if the next guy they pull over for a busted tail light is going to whip out an Uzi and start blazing away at them. My feeling is that once the person they pull over is being cooperative, they should back off a hair, but they don't. Best to just avoid them, I guess.

it goes under, everyone is a felon until proven innocent.Originally posted by Davar View PostThis seems to be he case all over this "free" country. Your CCW should have been the free and clear green light for you to get a "now you have a good day sir". Were they staters, locals or sheriff's deps? The cop said, "sorry but you have to understand we are always suspicious when citizens think they need to have a gun." is obviously a dillusional state owned zombie.
I carry a K-bar in my truck!

good thing you guys didn't have a toe nail clipper which is almost 6" long when folded out, they would have called in a SWAT team, where I live the legal lenght in 11", but I'd keep it out of sight unless I was in the field hunting, I know that just carring a leatherman that I use in my work will get you put up against the wall at a hospital unless you are wearing a full work belt and you're not supposed to carry one in a post office or school.Originally posted by elittle View Postyeah that would suck for me too. I am surprised that this is in texas, i thought all you texans came out of your mothers womb with a bowie knife, a handgun, and a cowboy hat. LOL, jk. My grandma is a Texan from Tyler actually, God rest her soul. Seriously though they are worried about you having a 2 inch knife when they got every tom, ****, and harry coming across the border. I mean seriously, they need to get their priorities straight. That sounds strangely familiar, fade out to a butt chewing from my father telling me I need to get my priorities straight. ha ha.
