  • the mystery of the shemitah

I altered all but the following...
not wanting to get in fight with rmpl...
or in trouble with the mods.
I tried to delete the whole thing.

for others who have read it... please help... but may I suggest that we ==don't ==summarize..

by quoting, I remove the inclination we will have to slant something per our own prejudices!

We should start by explaining that "shemitah" means "Sabbath Year," which means it is the 7th year of 7 years, sort of like Sunday is called the 7th day of 7 days. There also Jubilee Years (every 50th year) and a Land Sabbath (Shmita ~ a land rest on the 7th year of 7 year cycles).

That said, as I am very familiar with the Torah calendar (it is different from the "calculated" Jewish/Rabbinical Hillel II calendar), I can say that I personally believe that NO ONE knows what year we are in now days except for the Father, Messiah and His Messengers (called Angels by modern world), and maybe the demonic legions. As for HUMANS, we entered what I believe to be an EXILE in 32AD with the resurrection of Messiah and firmly set in place at 70AD with the destruction of the Temple and the veil ripped of the Holy of Holies. We are essentially in a time like the Hebrew slaves of Egypt, crying out for the rescue by Messiah, enslaved in a pagan world.

So although his book is very interesting and plan on reading it soon, I do not hold much faith in his belief that THIS YEAR is the Shemitah, the Sabbath Year. Those within "Hebrew Roots" can't even figure out if Saturday is really the Sabbath, or if a day begins at sunset or at dawn. Thus, we are in EXILE, the calendar has been taken away from us, the times of the Holy Festivals have been removed. So I cannot say we should be doing some special kind of preparedness, except that we should always be preparing...

What is so hard about discussing a topic... Why do you go right to "get in a fight?" Can we not discuss a very complex topic without anger or conflict? Do I have to THINK just like you and respond in a way YOU want me to?

I have no clue why you abandoned this topic? Your stated reason: "rmpl attack"
Buddy, you have never seen me on a textual warpath, I assure you... My post above was as "fuzzy kitten paws" and "kid gloves" as possible...

And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest. The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.
        (Lam 2:6-7 KJV)
