Just finished Rawles' Founders. This is the first of his books I have read, so I don't have anything to compare it to. It felt shallow and the stories felt incomplete. I kept waiting for him to "weave" the stories together, but it was more like a collection of short stories than a novel.

That said, there were some very interesting scenarios and things I might not have thought of on my own, so it wasn't a total waste of time.

The Swiss Family Robinson by- Johann Rudolf Wyss

My 10 year old son was tasked with reading an "older" novel, "classic". So I suggested this title. It is written in "old English" and makes the younger one's think a little different, besides making them put down their Ipad..

I have read it with him sometimes explaining some of the wording and terminology that is not used today. (some I didn't understand either)

While it's not a read that will teach you how to survive, it does show you surviving with a positive spirit and a good Christian mindset.

I've read Killing Jesus and Killing Patton. Both were excellent historical works...very little or no commentary...just the verifiable facts. Good reads.

Dreamers & Deceivers by Glenn Beck. so far it is a good follow-up on the other book Miracles & Massacres. I like to read history stories so it is a good fit for me.

Military Mountaineering TC 90-6-1 1976: Good FM with lots of info that is relevant even if you aren't in a mountainous area. Things such as knots, making bridges, moving loads over terrain etc

US Army TM 5-725 1968 RIGGING: Not a glamorous topic but seriously meat and potatoes of survival. Tying knots, using mechanical advantage for moving heavy stuff, using and making anchors. Lots of tables for reference to keep yourself out of trouble. Things like load ratings at different angles, load ratings for different types of anchor points.

FM's are cheap and generally provide the knowledge in a trimmed down concise format. At 5$-7$ ea. hard to beat

                            finished "stand your ground"
                            author usually writes cowboy books.
he portrays the muslims as evil.... democrats as being accomplices of the muslims and conservatives as a last resort for the country.
came right out of today's news..
I'd read about a beheading etc... and have to put the book down for a while.
has a prophetic tone to it.
