    Part 26

"We are going to need to end this quickly." Jim said.

"I agree. Hopefully Bill got us the information we need." Rusty said.

The Group had all made it back to the retreat. Bill had left Matt and Murph to finish treating Lyle''s wound to go and finish the interrogation of Pablo.

Jim felt the overall tone of the Group. The dependents were all unhappy. Seeing two men die it was finally real to some of them. Several of them had went to their husbands and asked that they never leave the retreat again.

Two of the wives had approached Jim and quietly asked that their husbands not be sent out of the retreat again. They were afraid to lose them.

Jim listened to their comments and reminded them that a terrible catastrophe had befallen the Country and that most people were in a lot worse shape than they were.

"Of course we are taking some risks. But some of that risk comes directly from individual's poor planning and preparations. We wouldn't need to be trading time of hired guns for livestock if everyone had gotten their food storage up to snuff. Also, you all need to understand that this has given us an opportunity to find out about these "Gomez" people ahead of time. What if we hadn't learned about them until they attacked us here? Surely we would have lost a lot more than 2 men. They are obviously a strong gang. What would have happened if we were not patrolling, or having the outpost watching the cows? The first indication we would have had that they were operating in this area would have been when they hit us with a big attack. All of us men decided a long time ago that when we could, we would always opt to fight battles elsewhere so we might not have to fight them here and endanger you all and our children. Instead of worrying your men, you all need to let them know how proud you are of their bravery in keeping you safe and that you are behind them in their actions. Think about it." Jim had told the women.

The women realized that what Jim had said was right.

The Group had a funeral service for both Rick and Barney the next morning. Prayers were said for both of them. They were buried in a hidden spot and marked with GPS and compass azimuths from three known locations.

Bill retrieved all the information Pablo had. It was a long and hard process of which he did a fabulous job. Jim assisted him in the last few hours.

"I don't like doing that kind of shi%, for the record." Bill said.

"Neither do I. What's important is we got the info we need." Jim replied

"When are we going to hit them?" Bill asked.

"Tomorrow night. Give everyone a day to rest and recoup, clean weapons and pack gear. I have some special preps to make as well. Get some rest. We will have a briefing tomorrow at noon." Jim said.

Jim worked on two potential plans after going over his notes from Pablo's interrogation. He would need a few specialized items for either plan, so he first set about getting them together.

Makes you say hmmmm wonder what Jim is up to?
Protecting the sheep from the wolves that want them, their family, their money and full control of our Country!

Guns and gear are cool, but bandages stop the bleeding!

ATTENTION: No trees or animals were harmed in any way in the sending of this message, but a large number of electrons were really ticked off!
