  • Atlas Shrugged movie premieres on April 14

For Ayn Rand fans who have waited years for the movie version of Atlas Shrugged, it is sheduled to premiere on April 15 (wrong date in my thread title, sorry). The downside is that the movie is not going to open nationwide---only in selected cities. The official website is below. You can watch the trailer and read up on the movie.

The latest news and discussion of the Atlas Shrugged movie, including its trailer, reviews, and behind-the-scenes coverage.

The Wall Street Journal had a really good article about Atlas Shrugged in 2009. Since then, even more of Ayn Rand's predictions have come true. (Warning: There are a few spoilers in the article.)

If you can't see the movie, take the time to read this fantastic book which describes the value of capitalism and the necessity of freedom from government interference. When you finish, you can read additional "chapters" every day----in your newspaper.

Thanks for the update. I doubt we are anywhere near a "selected city" LOL but if it's not TOO far to one, we'll see it.

I couldn't get into the book. I can go through sometimes 2 books a week but I could never get far into that one. I even bought the audio book tapes (that's how long ago) and that was something like 20 tapes. By tape 3 I was yawning...

    Link isn't working though.
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

I've tried to get my girlfriend to read that book for the last eight years. Finally, we were taking a road trip and I bought the audiotape. We head out and put it on, but the guy reading makes it nearly unbearable, so we shut it off and that was a waste of money. I really hope they don't screw up the movie version. I doubt the movie will be as good as the book for me. They never seem to be but I'm looking forward to seeing this one.

Here is another link with a scene from the movie:

I have never been too happy with audiotapes, either---they put me to sleep. I agree that movies are never as good as the book; they leave too much out and never really develop the characters. With a book, you can pause to think about a scene or reread to clarify points (and there are MANY points to ponder in the 1100+ pages of Atlas Shrugged).

Will this movie be as good as the book? Probably not. But I still want to see it.

Yeah, I'm with you Flagwaver. I don't really watch too much T.V. but I do enjoy a good movie. This, if done right, could be one great movie. I keep that book and The Fountainhead in my locker on the boat, just to have when I feel like a pick me up.

I found a really informative interview about the making of the movie. It contains the trailer and makes me want to see the film even more!

Connect. Grow. Join a community of independent thinkers are you explore the fascinating ideas of Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism.

There will be three parts when it is complete. Hopefully, enough people will be interested so that it will be shown in most cities. (The liberal leftists/socialists/communists DO NOT want this film to even premiere. Ayn Rand's warning about government takeover of business and redistribution of wealth---and its subsequent destruction of America--- is unfolding before our eyes every day.)
