Recommend an intro to diesel mechanics book

Anyone got any recommendations on a basic intro level book covering diesel engines and how to fix/repair? EVERYTHING I have that is diesel is old skewl, so no DEF or any of that. Not sure if that's important but assuming an older book would cover everything I need.

And don't worry, it can't be too basic. "See Spot run, see Spot turn the wrench on the motor" works for me just fine :)

and a related issue/question.

one diesel engine on a machine i used to love.
keeps displaying codes. P00xx or P 00xyz

if ld3's book has those codes and how to clear and or fix... that would add to value hugely.
the codes apply to some auto's also. i'll google the code and there will be a video on solving that code on a fancy car!!
