I have delved into herbal/mineral supplement treatments and have picked up a couple books (one from goodwill for $3.99) on the subject. The one from GW is an awesome book and discusses many diseases/conditions.
Learning how to make tinctures, teas and salves....

Books in general- reading and re-reading some technical manuals, etc here and there pertinent to equipment failures and repairs- Stihl chainsaw repair manual, manual for backhoe, etc.
Read lately and reading now-
"Off Grid solar power bible"- Wasn't expecting a helluva lot out of this book and it didn't surprise me....
"Photovoltaic design and installation"- a dummies book but really good.
"Install your own solar panels"- probably a better amateur book than "off grid solar power bible", good pics which even if your somewhat familiar with solar, help with some of the new equipment changes. Pics can also give you ideas for installs, etc.
"Essential rainwater harvesting"- after drinking rain water for a good bit post hurricane, started looking at upgrading our catchment plan and system. A little on the hippy dippy enviro side, but decent info.
Funny you mention solar panel install. Getting ready to install 12 panels on the array at the AO. Have all the rails and connectors. Would like to have it done before Jan1, but there are holidays in there and I do not live at the AO....yet ;) ....Just taking some 2x4s and nailing the panels to it isn't going to work well when you really need them to function. Having a true array set up and knowing it will last is what is needed long term. One of the other members has 20 panels up and running. I will be putting up 12 on the rest of the space on the array. Others....well there is a saying 'snooze you loose'. Anyone else will now need to build an addition onto the array. These panels will supply his and my cargo container homes and small clinic.
