There are a lot of nasty bugs out there. Unfortunetly, a true, long term crisis of more than a couple weeks where water is questionable, many people will get sick and/or die. Most that rely on city water, don't even know where to find clean water when their faucet stops producing. They will get water from wherever they can and not know how to make it potable. A gallon of clean water may be worth a lot in a given situation, but be careful who knows that you can purify it as the zombies will come-a-knocking.
