Ouch! It didn't hurt as much as it kinda shocked me. I moved back just a bit afterwards and had that semi hazy feeling you get right after you get rocked with a punch and I was already close so I rocked back just a bit and went to the ground.
The nice thing about being used to the ground is that it can become your friend in times like that. That sounds stupid but most people are totally afraid to go to the ground in a fight/sparring session. Sometimes you can use it to get "grounded" for a minute, clear your head quick and get back into the fight.
Anywhoo, it caught the inside bone structure of my eye socket, not really my eye ball thankfully. I recovered within just a few seconds, didn't feel dizzy, etc. but decided to sit on the ground for a minute. The comment from those that saw it was "damn! You got rocked."
Needless to say I haven't sat out :) and it hasn't given me too much grief. Iced it there and again when I got home, took some motrin. It took a couple days for the "black eye" look to really take hold. And five days later it still looked just a bit swelled- very hard to tell unless up close.
I'm used to the RICE concept and use it frequently on other body parts. But was curious to see if this same regimen should be followed re: swelling, as it's the head.
Doing pushups seems to aggravate it, I'm guessing the facing down pressure?
If I start typing/talking like Rocky Balboa here soon, then we can be sure brain damage has occurred. LOL
