  • supplies..odd places!

Well....I like to look for stuff in sales.....yard sales...thrift stores etc.
Well yesterday the local community center /library had one. I swung in on the way back from the farmers market. Looking around I see a big yellow tote. Full of first aid stuff. I ask flat out "how much for the whole tote ".
    Five dollars.

    Now..it was a wide mix..some old...some new.
Lil run down of what I walked away with.
    New -
1 full box of surgical pads 5+9
1 full box of AB pads
    1/2 box of 6 ply 4*4s
    Two saline soaked dressings.
Four rolls of cloth tape and two rolls of clear perforated tape.
    Four four inch gauze rolls.
Four boxes of assorted band aids
One box of large 4*4 band aids.
    Three cloth tape despensors

    Open /lose stuff
    3-4 surgical pads
    20 2+2 sponges
    2 rolls of ace wrap
Four white ace style knee /joint braces /wraps. Ill wash these could come in handy to keep dressings covered or compressed.
One green glass jar of camphor ..expired in 1983. I'll keep this.it was my grandmother s cure all LOL

There were some iodine soaked swabs etc.but they were expired and rock hard.

Not a bad haul for shtf dressings....point is don't over look stuff..the old braces and faded paper stuff hid the new boxes of surgical pads and other stuff..
Now I need to start a their medical tote....even after stuff extra pads in my m7 bag and other kits LOL
Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!

Great score! I never find that kind of stuff, most sales here are trinkets, nick-nacks and baby clothes. :(

Remember even old medical supplies that you find cheap can be used for training purposes if nothing else. So don't worry if the white wrapper is stained or turning yellow, use that to your advantage and low ball the seller. Then if you don't think it's safe for real world use, throw it in your training bag. Use the old, worn out supplies instead of the new stuff for training.
