  • Tetanus

Gutting a house recently both me and a helper got gigged with nails in the foot. The one that got me was actually a staple and luckily I somehow just got one side of it. He jumped off a ladder and landed on two!!

How long has it been since the last tetanus shot? How long can you really go?

Guessing the crap we were working in/around might be an awful lot like the kind of wreckage you might see in the PAW

It is the RUST and soil microbes getting in the wound that get you... Not the puncture, per se.

Just like dental work (just had a wisdom tooth pulled, cavities filled, and some old mercury fillings removed), getting a Tetanus Booster while things are good is a no-brainer...

PAW and white-trash sandals do not make for good feet... Boots will be a precious possession...

The booster is good for 10 years, if your like me I usually end up getting a booster about every 5 years due to puncturing myself. From what I've read it wouldn't be a good way to die.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

couple of years ago it was updated for just such emergencies and I was actually gonna bring that up because of the recent tornandos. I saw and got multiple injures from nails in the foot to tears from jags and broken junk.

Weird that you should mention tetanus shots, was at the doctors for a checkup last week and he asked about tetanus and I couldn't rememer the last one so he gave me a TDAP vaccination. Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis. Tetanus is good for ten years, diphtheria and whooping cough are lifetime I think.

I know a lot of people don't believe in vaccinations but sometimes better safe than sorry.

Yeah, some are 100% against... Me, I am OK with the single ones like tetanus and polio, but the multiple all-in-ones are dangerous, IMO, nor do I get ones with unclean animal DNA/RNA in it, for I do not want that stuff in my bloodstream.

My daughter had an allergic reaction to pertusis as a baby which has led to a lifetime of issues so one does need to be careful
