I myself made a personal choice not to however that is something you need to think of for sure. I made mine based on cost, longevity, my longevity or lack of, etc.

      My next thought...

I think my vision loss is most likely from lack of use (muscle loss). My vision started fading when I started school for info systems and spent 10 to 14 hours a day (usually 7 days a week) infront of a Monitor. So the muscles that control focus were not getting used as much as they should. I have heard rumors of "exercises" to improve your vision. But I have not found any info about them.

Have you heard anything about that?

Assuming your vision is stable, you could buy extra glasses to store from Zenni Optical. My DH wears transition, no-line bifocal glasses. At the Optician's office they were $500 to $600 dollars. We went through Zenni and bought two pair of regular (single vision) glasses for me, on pair of regular (for emergencies) glasses for him, and a pair of the transition, no-line bifocals for him. Grand total for four pair of glasses PLUS shipping was $153.

Shoot! Personally, I would get lasik if I could afford it. But I'm going the Zenni route myself.

I can not really afford it but I have been lucky enough to be able get out of debate (other than my mortage) and Lasik these days can be "Financed". So it would be a small monthly payment but think it might be worth it for daily sports activities and really helpful in PAW.

I had the Lasik procedure done in 1998. I was severely nearsighted with astigmatism. Lasik solved both problems. I was told by the doc that I would need reading glasses a little sooner than most as a side effect and now that I am entering my mid 40's I am starting to see why. I still test 20/15 but after reading or doing fine work it takes a while for my eyes to adjust to distance viewing again. I also have some mild "halo" issues at night but not enough to intefere with my vision.
I would do it again if given the chance to rewind my life.

I am going to do the Lasik next year. Putting money in Flex spending account so no taxes come out of it so that is 25 % or so right of the top.

Had lasik done in 2004 and loved the results (almost blind before and glasses cost over $600 a pair). My doctor also said that I would need reading glasses as I aged. I am now wearing them for reading and close work, such as sewing. For $10-$15 a pair at Wally World, I think that's a great bargain. So I'm buying extra pairs for myself and for barter down the road. You need to be able to see- nothing replaces your sight, so plan accordingly
