    You're welcome.

I think everybody focuses on the "cool" part of first aid like gunshot wounds, etc, and not on the bland, everyday stuff that's more common.

If I had to bet, I'd wager that there've been many more people killed from a simple cut left untreated or diarrhea than gunshot wounds. YMMV

Agree...In a PAW there will be gun battles for sure. But even with that, I bet more will die of just what you stated...diarrhea, infections, heart attacks from being out of shape and trying to do manual labor, strokes for no B/P meds are available, etc. The list can go on and on. Knowing how to take care of the basic stuff is as important as taking care of the big stuff.

Guns and gear are cool, but bandages stop the bleeding!

ATTENTION: No trees or animals were harmed in any way in the sending of this message, but a large number of electrons were really ticked off!

I agree with both Sheepdog and Greyman here. With that said, however, I just took a class this past July on "Tactical First Aid", which was very good but it only dealt with gunshot wounds and knife wounds. So if someone is dying from wound to one of their extremities there is a good chance I can save their lives. Now I just need to get some more basic medical care to round our my knowledge. And then improve on my emergency medical kits.

This is how I learned to tape an ankle. Very stable, and comparing with the above video I believe it to be a better technique.
You dont need the prewrap. It actually works a little better taped directly to the skin. Shave the patient first.

I dont know how to embed a video so if Admin wants to do it for me go ahead

You should invest in some SAM splints. You can get them in several sizes off of amazon, and they are super lightweight, easy to use, and bullet proof. Well not literally but they hold up great with extended use. Also, its understandable not wanting to make a financial/time commitment to EMT classes, but you can always make friends with an EMT or go buy the local fire station on a slow day to pick up advice. Ive never met someone in EMS that doesnt like to tell stories about crazy calls they went on, and you can pick up useful information that way.
