  • What to ask for.

I have a friend who is a P.A. and we were talking about "things" going on in the world, and he seemed willing to write some scripts for meds to keep at home and my BOB depending on what it is. He will not write for any narcotic or controlled med, but the other types are open to discussion. Things like antibiotics, burn creams, insulin, stuff like that. This is a common practice for people who go over seas on vacation or on missionary trips. My question is "what would you like to keep at home and\or your BOB if you could?"
(this is a repost from a different thread, it fit a lot better here. by the way mods, feel free to move or remove any of my posts if they don't fit. at 3:43 in the AM anyplace looks fine to post.)

Whatever he writes for you, do your homework. There are some meds you do not want to use much after there expiration dates.

      Some suggestions..
      Doxycycline
      Ciprofloxacin
      Amoxicillin
Ciclopirox gel or lotion (anti-fungal, anti-yeast)
Topical steroid creams/ointments one of each low (hydrocortisone 2.5%), medium (triamcinolone 0.1%) and high potency (clobetasol 0.05%)
Prescription eye drops (antibiotic and steroid)
Oral steroid (Prednisone in 10mg tabs)
      Anti-viral (Tamiflu and Valtrex)
      NSAID (naproxen)

      OTC meds to have
      Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin)
      Benadryl
      Tylenol
Allegra (this is the only true non-sedating antihistamine)
      Hydrocortisone cream 1%
      Zantac

Here is a great site for more info. Plan to spend some time there as the info there is very detailed. http://armageddonmedicine.net/?p=3275
