I am not bothered by it , unless it gets in a cut, and even then very little. As a child I took allergy shots , and I swear it changed me. My wife however can't even look at it , so I still try to avoided it. Sorry for your itch . We always carry calamine lotion when she's with me, but I'm not sure just how effective it really is.
Carry as little as possible , to obtain as much as needed.

I am blessed to not get this stuff. As a teen, when science class went out on the trail, I would take "donations" to rub it all over my face and would chew on it. Like a carnival act, I racked up on peoples lunch money. Now, chiggers and noseums, I am allergic to those SOBS

        This is very true.
I know people that would buy goats just for this task.

Glad I live in the PNW, there are some places with posion oak but luckly very few. I've heard that it is possible to get posioned by inadvertenly burning posion ivy and inhaling the smoke. Doesn't sound like much fun.

glad things are clearing up Matt.
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

Remembering that the oil from the plant is the allergen, watch out for pets who Run through the woods. My poor sister got it three times in a row before she talked to me about it. She couldn't figure out how she kept getting it until I asked about her dog. Sure enough, the plants were all over the side yard where he would go to relieve himself. A good bath for fluffy and some weed removal on that side yard were the key to her finally getting better.
