  • paxlovid (sp?)

an associate from the west coast had covid real bad . they had been very healthy and fit... long recovery time.
    got well.
then this past month travelled, by air to big eastern city and came home . got sick again. tested. confirmed.
contacted medical associate and was told "paxlovid" should be taken. he was take ?5 pills per day for ?5 days.... maybe i should just say several pills per day for a few days... i forgot the specifics.
    anyhow,
    improvements were seen very quickly.
maybe because this is the "second goround?"
they are fan of this medicine... that is the good news..
bad news is that covid spread to their spouse and and medically challenged very small child.
    spouse is now on paxlovid..
    nasty disease.

we traveled to a large conference 6500 ? folks.
the day we left town bride reported being real tired... not surprising as it was a busy few days.
following day we've traveled to a relative for a few day visit. she's really tired and hit the bed with flu symptoms... as symptoms increased she tested for covid... positive results.

we called urgent care that was nearby... and the response was "don't come here. find a primary doctor. we didn't have a primary doctor that could see us at 7 p..m. called our primary dr. back home and left a message after 7 p.m. friday night, HOPING we'd get a call back on saturday. we were very surprised when primary doctor called back in about 20 minutes..
primary called in paxlovid to a cvs drugstore near relatives home . thankfully they didn't close till 8 and we got there 7:45 wife was able to get first dose friday night and had improvement on sat. morning... the cvs pharmacist was amazing. also giving advice on medicine and other related treatment for covid...

bottom line of this post is
it helped that wife already had a dr that had treated her and was familiar with her medical condition and was able to prescribe medicine from 100s of miles away. and also gave detailed instructions about care. hmm... i think i'll send a small gift to doctor with bride the next time she goes to see doctor.
