  • INS2: Australia develops first smartchip for pain

Received this via email from a friend, i personally have a problem with putting a chip in my body, but i also don't have chronic pain either. On second thought maybe he was saying i was a chronic pain?

[QUOTE]INS2: Australia develops first smartchip for pain

The Implantable Neuro Sensing and Stimulation (INS2) device is considered the first miniature smartchip for treating chronic pain. Its very small size, along with other key features, allows the smartchip to manage pain better in humans.

The INS2 was designed by Sydney (Australia) researchers at the National ICT Australia (NICTA), which is Australia

In my profession (RFID) I see many discussions centered around the safety/intrusive nature/benefits of micro-implant devices or RFID chips. As with any technology, the sinister nature is not with the technology itself but the folks behind the technology and their true intentions are what drives the good/bad application practices. This device sounds intriguing to say the least but as I stated, what if someone wanted to use the device to produce the opposite effect, i.e increased pain. What they could do to someone whom they were let's say trying to get information from?

At any rate the propaganda you see regarding the RFID tags, chips, readers, and so forth is jsut that....people are taking bits and peieces of misinformaiton and perpetuating it to a level that IF you wanted to actually understand what the technology was about, it would be difficult to sift through all the lies. I would be very happy to answer any questions directly and honestly as I have been in the industry for over 26 years and while the technology is still evolving, where there is a better mouse trap, there is usually a better mouse.

thank you eeyore for the post, I will do some research and see what I can find as to the "true" validity of the claims being made by the tech manufacture.
