eating dinner....
SPROUTED Wheat.
I have been buying the Augason Farms 5 gallon buckets at Wal-Mart, when I have the $$$, this week, beginning to slow down some, from moving Out of ~Small Beginnings~ and into The Lodge, I happened upon some White Wheat Berries, as I was stocking shelves.
It was Morning, by the way....
I took my Standard Measuring device, for me: a well cleaned Vienna Sausage can, dipped it level, and poured it into a glass jar... then filled it with water.
24 hours later, I drank the Mineral & Vitamin rich water, then new water, and returned it to the shelf.
That night, just for kicks, I grabbed a spoonful, and started chewing.
First thing I noticed was the delightful flavor, natural sweetness is always nicer than man made stuff.... then, I noticed the Hull(s) separating from the inner portions of the seed(s).
Thats fine by me, don't we buy Wheat Bran on occasions?
By the Way, the germination process at this point, is Just Starting.
I chewed... and chewed more... suddenly, I am asking myself, "where did the bubble gum come from"? :D
It was of course, the Gluten of what would have been the flour, if I were using a more refined set of grinders than my teeth!
And I chewed!, it finally ~broke down~ and I swallowed the pieces....
That was a great experience!
Tonight, the sprouted wheat all have at least three sprout/roots most have Four... I am not measuring Each One, but average length is about 1/2 inch, the Hulls have become so soft they are non existent. There is no Gluten/Dough/Bubble Gum... an increase in sweetness, a fullness of belly, bite by bite!
I now know, in a "in the fan" on the road situation, I could do a series of heavier Zip Lock Bags, and actually survive on a half pound of dry Wheat Berries, and water (Remember, I live in Oregon, for me Water is never an issue, except for "please stop raining")!
My intent with the Berries, is to sprout, then grind, then make a bread with nothing else but water and sprouted wheat... low heat cooking....
Photo's if desired are always possible.
this Wheat passed the Yummy Test, next will be the Hard Red Winter Wheat Berries....
