  • Making your own Sour Dough Starter

One of the things I have wanted to do for some time is learn how to make my own sour dough starter. I tried it once a few years back using the instructions out of The Bread Baker

My Gf saw this and started the printer up. Your bread looks yummy to us. It all tastes good when eating, looks are secondary. Keep up the good work.

I used the Breadtopia recipe 2 years ago. It's the best method I've tried to make a sour dough starter. Just keep it fed and it'll last . . . well, forever.

Thanks Dreamer, I hope you and your gf have fun with the bread.

MB, have you tried the Breadtopia No Knead Sour Dough recipe, if so, have you been able to get the same baking results that he gets? I am going to start another loaf for tomorrow, however, I am going to add a little less water and see how that works out. I will let you all know the results.

Many times. It works well. I use a regular dutch oven with a lid to bake my bread. I didn't order any of the special stuff he uses. I followed the recipe and the only difficulty I have is trying to rush the rising. I've discovered that if I prepare it a night, it's usually ready the next morning.

I think this would be an excellent bread recipe during the PAW because it uses so few ingredients.
