  • Wood Gasifier

Have any of you heard about wood gasification or a wood gasifier? I originally heard about this on survival blog from a linked article about a guy who converted his old truck to run on wood. And then not to long ago I went to a preparedness expo and lo and behold, there was an older couple that was advertising a wood gasifier GENERATOR!!! I was really intrigued (naturally), but this couple's booth had quite a few people around it the entire time that I was at the expo. So I didn't get a chance to talk to them. But I did get their card. Their web site is: www.woodgasifier.org
They claim that you can build one of these yourself for less than $1500! There is also a quick video that explains it on their web site. Do a quick search and you will see that there is actually a lot of info on this subject (check out youtube too) as well as a few vendors that sell kits or videos.
Anyway, I have been casually reading about it since then. Anyone already have one of these? Or personal experience with one? The possibilities seem quite liberating! A generator than runs on wood?!

That's funny...I just recently have had this very same subject on my mind. Been researching and discussing it as a possible upcoming project.

Saw this on that new show...on Science Channel called "Stuck with Hackett." Dude made one out of stuff out of a scrapyard.

Way smarter than I am about it, but intriguing. I'd like to hear about anyone that's done this themselves.
