Well Friday the wife came home with overhead projectors because the schools are throwing them away because everything is pretty much digital these days and they haven't used them in years. So yesterday I got enough to equip each family unit, we train with, so they can have one fresnal lens and a magnifier glass for fire starting. Sharpshooter then got him a big screen tv lens someone was throwing away too.
The daughters boyfriend was over and got to see what we were doing with the fresnal lens and got some lessons in fire starting as well and left with a fire kit (tin with fire steel/striker, charcloth, small lighter and 3 sections of fire straws with lint) and a whole lotta knowledge LOL. He was eating it up and smiling the whole time.
I also salvaged the fans off the ones that worked for placement in the air tubes on the storm shelter for circulation and the rest will go to team Karen for the chicken coops in case we hit extreme heat like the last 2 yrs again.
You all might check with your schools and see if they are getting rid of any of these overhead projectors. It takes about 30 seconds to remove the lens in most cases.
