my wife is telling me that many of the stores and businesses she has visited recently are greeting her with "Happy holiday"
as they are avoiding the use of Christ mas or any reference to Jesus Christ in their ads or words, so that they don't annoy or offend
those who are against Jesus.
I was at a meeting of gardeners, most over the age of 60 and we had a "Christmas Party and lunch" all of those over 60 very comfortably
gave their greeting of merry Christmas and comfortably discussed their Church's Christmas activities... all but one.
she was an active member at her protestant church... but you could tell that she was more comfortable with
"happy holiday" as a greeting... she is very highly educated.. her husband is also highly educated and she was the youngest in the room.
I do think she's a Christian. a believer, she's just doesn't want to offend any muslim, Buddhist, hindu or other.
in my humble opinion many folks don't know Jesus, but they generally don't mind the day off from work! and I've never had any one in
my area that was offended by the term Merry Christmas or Happy birthday Jesus or similar...
so, I greet you all with a proud Merry Christmas as we enter the season where we and many in our area do celebrate the birthday of our Lord Jesus!
and adding a prayer that our country, with all of its changes, will not make it improper or illegal or shunned to use the greeting or talk of Him!
