  • 100 Pastors to defy the IRS

    http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=207025

At least 100, and perhaps as many as several hundred, Christian pastors on Sunday will speak out on biblical issues and the political candidates on the November election ballot in direct violation of Internal Revenue Service regulations.

I love this. Too long Christians have had kowtowed to the Federal Government. It will be interesting if it goes to the Supreme Court. Previously, Black churches have long been politically active and have not been penalized by the IRS. I thinking of Obama's pastor Wright.

Christians are finally taking a Stand!

I guess i'm decenter, the only reason they can not talk up, is because they choose to receive 501c3 status (i believe that is right). The churches that don't become entangled with the government are allowed (at least for a little while more) to speak their mind. They can't speak up on political or very soon they will not be able to speak up on social issues either.

Don't get me wrong, the church i attend is 501c3, i don't like it and have said so, but they are too far in now to get out. What i mean is if they with draw themselves from it, they will have to pay back taxes on everything they have bought using the tax exempt status. The people in the pew will have to do the same thing, that have claimed it on their taxes (or at least that is what i have been told).

I think it is great when men (are leaders) speak their mind, they ought to able to do that freely and not hold back.

There are times when churches must speak out! It is past time for churches to speak out against evil and corruption. I understand the fear of losing their 50lc3 status, however, the bible is full of prophets and religious leaders who spoke out. How long can churches remain silent while Christianity is being attacked by the left media and activists. Some of the attacks have been silly, others brutal.

If churches cannot speak out against evil - what are their purpose - a feel good sermon, and a politically correct Sunday School. If Christians churches continue to act like milktoast, they will have no message. Christ spoke out in the synagogues.

I never want to look at a grandchild and say I didn't do anything because I was afraid of losing money!

I agree 100%, i think the less we are entangled with the world the better. I think they have to speak out, ours does most of the time, but we have never been challenged yet either.

I was hoping to get my church to add to its do***ents a statement supporting One man and One woman marriage and Home schooling. It would help me head off what i see as challeges in the futures. Those are the next battle grounds.

How does the old saying go "if someones doesn't stand for something, he will fall for anything"
