  • 1 year old with high temp

My 1 year old daughter had a temp of 105 last night, went to the ER got some antibiotics and tylenol/ibuprofin. This morning she has 101 temp. ER Doc thinks its an ear infection....so hard to comfort them when they are this little. Please pray for her.

Prayer sent, with ours we used to keep their hair wet help bleed off the temp.

The only child i had that had a temp that high, had an ear infection with the combination of dehydration, very easy for little ones to get dehydrated. If your not getting wet diapers, might want to push fluids into her. Which is a good idea with any fever anyway, my kids loved the fuirt ice pops.

Stay strong, let us know when it breaks

May the Lord bless and heal her.

Was she tugging at her ear? I hear that's a common symptom. Praise God we never had that problem. Ya'll don't smoke do you?

Well, I'm an odd one... one of those who did not vaccinate and believes fever is a useful tool, a NATURAL tool, for burning out invaders... Now 105 is getting up there and worthy of cooling down measures (wetting the head, etc...), but it sounds like the time at 105 was enough to kill the invaders in the body as the fever broke. It does suck to see such little ones in such discomfort...

As long as it doesn't stay up there very long! Glad she is better, they can sure make you worry!

No you are not the only one. I believe fever is one of God's defence mechanism He give us to fight disease. I don't mind 101 and even 102 for periods of time with mine. My wife would not like to see any. But we did have a doctor tell us that a 101 fever was good and that it did help to kill the "invaders"

@lowdown3 - She wasn't pulling on her ear, her brother has done that when he has had them. Unfortunately they don't always pull on their ears when they have an earache. Haven't smoked in years, thank you Jesus!! He broke that chain for us several years ago.

A 101 doesn't bother us, 102 daycare gets all persnickety and sends them home, 105 gets us going to the ER. Thankfully my wife and mother-in-law are both RN's :)

Again thanks for the prayers!! Blessings to all of you.

Praise the Lord. I hate to see kids sick.

And I'm very pleased to see so many folks understanding fever!!! Wow! Their is so much I've held back on on the net like talking about vaccinations, alternative medicine, etc. cause most party simply tote the party line of the AMA.

Glad she's better. And glad your not smoking. One of my PA buds claims parent's smoking is a big cause of that.
