Hi All,
As I mentioned on my other thread, our medically fragile special needs child is scheduled to go in for back surgery on the week of the 16th. He has a severe scoliosis curve and they will be fusing his back with a rod. He is expected to be in the hospital for 7 days, the first night in ICU and the surgery is expected to last 6+ hours. Since January of this year I have been taking him to see all of the specialists to ensure he can actually handle this surgery and to ensure we are making the right decision in having him have this surgery. It has not been easy.
Also, he may need to have an endoscopy next week to make sure nothing is going on in his GI tract. He is on a feeding tube and yesterday morning when I went in to start getting him ready for school he started to vomit some of the formula from his feeding tube due to have his hips elevated for too long as I was changing his diaper. That is something that happens from time to time, but what happened next is not something that has ever happened before, he started vomiting blood, and not just a little bit. Anyway, I called the doctor and we are going in next week to have him checked out to make sure this is not something serious. I kept him home from school yesterday and he was fine all day yesterday and last night no problems with the feeding tube.
With all of this going is why I have not been on the forums much recently, plus I have not had time to do any prepping, gardening, etc.
Anyway, I would appreciate your prayers as our family goes into this surgery as it will be very hard. Not just for him, but for all of his in trying to care for him after he comes home from the hospital. It truly will be all consuming.
Thanks,
SC
