  • Pray for a fallen brother

We lost a brother firefighter Monday night.
While this is a few counties south of me, I had the oppertunity to work with these men and women a few years back.
Capt. Matthew Porcari fell through when the floor collapsed. Another firefighter, Lt. Daniel Gavin was able to escape and was taken to Upstate medical burn unit in Syracuse. Lt. Gavin was released late yesterday so one prayer was already answered.
God has a new angel to welcome home, we pray that the family finds the strength they need to go on.
Also pray for the brothers and sisters that are left to cope with the loss of one of their own.

God bless you Capt. Porcari, thank you, and rest easy brother....we will take it from here.

    Firefighter's prayer:
When I'm called to duty God
    wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
    whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child
    before it is too late
or save an older person from
    the horror of that fate

    Enable me to be alert
    to hear the weakest shout
    and quickly and efficiently
    to put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
    to guard my neighbor and
    protect his property

And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
    bless with your protecting hand
    my children and my wife.

No way to ease the pain. I can only pray you will all, find someone on whom to lean and who can remind you that laughter is not a crime.

My prayers for you, your "brothers and sisters" and for the family no so bereft ...
