    Hey everyone,

My wife and I are in an undesirable situation... We are unsure whether to have her finish her last year of college and go into more debt along with the uncertainty of finding a job or not... Or stop altogether with only the debt that we have, but no degree. We believe that debt is wrong, and we've been reading the Word and Proverbs keeps advising us against debt; however, at the same time it seems practical to finish. Donations accepted. ;) Meanwhile, we're studying preparedness and homesteading, which is what we really want and feel the Bible condones (Proverbs 27:12- "A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; the simple pass on and are punished.") We're diligently praying for the Lord's guidance, and we'd really appreciate it if you'd pray for us as well.

I don't quote alot of scripture but you will find biblical evidence of what I say concerning such issues if you look. Our Lord knows us better than we know ourselves and faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains. No man is greater than another except by faith and if everything you do is for the glory of God you have nothing to fear. Seems silly to me to quit now for he who has made you, sent you there.

proverbs 27:12 Be sure to keep things in context. read the entire passage again and then again and then read the entire book to be sure to keep it inside the context of Proverbs itself. Each book is a book inside the word of God, each intends to portray the Gospel in a different way. Refuge from evil in the salvation of Christ Jesus, not of man's ultimate destruction. The lamb will provide and iron sharpens iron. You have not been drawn to this verse so that I can tell you that you're taking it out of context in a manner that fits your own desires. You have been drawn to this verse and put in this situation so that you will depend on your faith alone and you can share it with others when you prevail with our savior by your side. Stone is heavy and sand is a burden, How will you build your castle?
IMHO, this is your moment, this is your time when you're asked to do the Lord's work and I feel that amongst your stuggle you are fortunate to have such a clear path. I will pray for you my brother, I will pray that the Spirit gives you the light and understanding to do his work through the both of you. Remember, only a fool would trade the whole world for his soul and the only riches that are everlasting are those promised by our savior. He gave his life for ours, you can trust him with yours!
      God Bless you my friend!

Amen, but my friend can I encourage you to read the story of Jeremah? He himself knew little of what to say but the Lord told him not to fear because he would give him the words and that's exactly what he did. Faith always prevails, it's evident in the bible time and time again and when practiced in our lives today that same true faith leads us to victory. Do you still believe you have no wisdom?

I have absolutely no wisdom. It all comes from Him;) If I feel that He has given me a word for you I will surely will share it but I am very careful about giving any sort of "word from God" unless I am very confident that it really is from Him. It is funny that you should mention Jeremiah I am reading Jeremiah again right now (after feeling lead to previously). Jeremiah 29:13 good verse!

pray and he will show you.
i kept thinking.. finish that degree.
of course you will commit with all covenant that you will repay the debt.
                a question comes to mind.
and it shouldn't be answered here..
i assume the degree is in a marketable area.
for instance.. nursing, teaching, chemistry, welding, bricklaying, electronics
as compared to something that will not lead to a job/business.
cut all unnecessary expenses so that the debt can be as small as possible.
do not borrow if you have any hint that you won't repay.

Well said! I work for a major University and I know how hard it is now for new graduates to find a decent job that furthers their degree, but those in DEMAND careers have no issue, unlike those in Philosophy or world religions... LOL! Universities and schools are filled with people who now TEACH what could not provide them with their own job... So they teach... And the cycle repeats.

If one builds a house one must calculate the costs... To stop building a house when almost complete is unwise and seen as foolish. Even Torah gives examples on how to properly administer DEBT, so DEBT is something that sometimes must happen...

You have wisdom, you have nothing by yourself but you have everything with God by your side. That passage most certainly saved my life so I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't feel that I speak from my own wisdom but I don't doubt the words he gives me either. When the words given are biblically accurate there is no reason to doubt. I'm no saint and I'm no prophet but does that mean it's coincidence that you have been lead to the same passage more than once and talking about god's tongue with me now concerning Edgemont's prediciment? Might be crazy but crazy enough to give it a chance! Think about that and lets all pray together to give Edgemeont and his wife the wisdom to make the right decision in the name of Jesus. I'll also be praying that you might see the writting on the wall.

                    God Bless you all!

Edgemont, I feel ya 120%. My wife too is in her last year of college. She graduates in May (thank god) and will be working in the fall. She will have a dual degree in education/ special education. She is not guaranteed a job but with her being in the top of her class with a ton of references and recommendations, she should have no problem. Our problem lies in me loosing my job a month ago. We just last week had to finish off our savings (wasnt much, just one months worth of every bill). Unemployment helps but its just a bigger bandaid...one thing that I am thankful for is that we have no credit cards and we absolutely refuse government assistance. But the kicker is I have a 3 and a half year old and a 2 month old, which makes it worse. My wife's father is pitching in with our rent and her mother helps with the baby diapers and formula. That is helping tremendously. If it wasnt for them, we would be camping...literally. We made the decision one month ago that she needs to finish school because she has came this far. I apply for over 5 jobs a day but with this "we'd rather have someone with a 4 year degree and no field experience over someone with an exceptional field experience track record" is getting ridiculous to me. But, we have faith and I make sure that we have clothes, shelter, food and protection. I have started doing whatever side jobs I can and my wife sells on eBay and has a Cake business on the side so we are barely making it.

My advice to you is to keep trucking, keep believing and think about what good will come out of the future instead of what crap can come out of today.
You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?
